Proposed Pt Chevalier Kindergarten closure

One of the things I've been working on recently is Ministry of Education's decision to not renew the lease between Pt Chevalier Primary School and the local kindergarten. The reasoning for this is that the primary school's roll is increasing and it needs more space to accomodate this growth.

I attended a meeting for local residents regarding this issue recently. It started with the Ministry of Education saying the Kindy won't be bowled for a carpark. A good start, but there are bigger issues such as growing Pt Chev school roll and no space. The Ministry promised consultation with the community - 'soon' - on these bigger issues and I'll be holding them to their word.

Furthermore, the Minister for Tertiary Education Anne Tolley needs to demonstrate her commitment to early childhood education and have her officials to sit round the table with Point Chevalier Kindergarten to discuss the issue.
